Hannah Sharman-Cox

Founder of London Cocktail Week

In Conversation

Happy London Cocktail Week! To celebrate, we spoke to founder Hannah Sharman Cox to find out her favourite watering holes in London.

What’s your all time favourite bar?
At London Cocktail Week we work with over 300 bars, so choosing just one would not be impossible. Saying that, I do have a penchant for hotel bars!

Which bartender should we have our eye on?
James Drummond from Bethnal Green’s Resident of Paradise Row. He was just awarded was LCW’s Best Cocktail Award.

Where’s your favourite London restaurant?
The Ledbury – I go every year for my birthday with my friends and it’s my favourite meal of the year. Or Barrafina.

What should we be drinking for autumn?
We’ve noticed two clear trends at London Cocktail Week this year. The first being the rise and rise of non-alcoholic cocktails – low ABV bitters, ameros or vermouths served with tonics make a great autumnal drink. The second is the Peruvian spirit pisco – a pisco and tonic makes a great alternative to a G&T.

Can you recommend us a hidden gem we might not know about?
I recently went for drinks in Bermondsey Street and and discovered a host of bars, all with a very independent feel to them. The standard of cocktails was amazing!
