JD is our go-to when we need an opinion on Ibiza and Formentera restaurants. Straight off the back of his recent ‘eat around the White Isle trip’, he’s given us a Top 5 on places to go, with recommended things to order and insider tips. Thanks JD!

Top 5 2021

1) Restaurant name: Es Xarcu.
What you love eating there: Classic sea bass al horno to share. This is the one dish everyone should eat when they come to Ibiza. Almost every daytime restaurant does it, but Es Xarcu does it best.
Top tip: Massive pours of post lunch anejo tequila.

2) Restaurant name: El Silencio.
What you love eating there: Prawn paella.
Top tip: Avoid the bench seating! Lunch deserves a proper chair to sit back in.

3) Restaurant name: Amante.
What you love eating there: King crab salad.
Top tip: Go back at nighttime too because the setting is spectacular.

4) Restaurant name: Es Còdol Foradat, Formentera.
What you love eating there: The Lobster Frit (with sobrasada) is worth the ferry journey + scooter ride alone.
Top tip: Swimwear is optional here but bring your budgies or your bikini for a before and after lunch swim in the greenest sea in Ibiza. There’s a secret shower at the back of the restaurant.

5) Restaurant name: Casa Jondal.
What you love eating there: Everything! But especially the cigalas al ajillo with fried eggs and potatoes.
Top tip: If the restaurant is fully booked, you can just rock up to the no-bookings bar and try the food from the kiosko menu.
