Drive through the pine-clad windy roads of the north, and you’ll arrive at Cala San Miguel. Tucked away, just off one of the nicest, most authentic coves around, this is a great location if you want to get away from it all.
The Hotel
This is a resort, so get that into your head, and it all starts to fit into place. There are 292 rooms spread over two hotels, which actually really helps make it feel less behemoth, and 114 of them are in the elevated ‘Club’ area. Book here if you can.
The Vibe
There’s a lot of space: one of the hotels is on the ground, and the other is literally on top of a cliff, so it really feels like you can cover a lot of terrain. The atmosphere is breezy, but also swift; with this many keys, it’s a well-oiled operation. Guests were relaxed: this seems to attract the kind of crowd that might not leave the hotel during their stay, and we didn’t see any day walkers (a.k.a. people getting in from the club at 10AM/2PM) here; definitely seems more mature (it’s adult’s only) and people in via the Curio Collection by Hilton system.

The Rooms
Ask for the highest room you can find, as the sunsets here are beautiful. Room highlights include the King Junior Suites, some with sea views or an outdoor jacuzzi on a terrace, and Junior Suites, which have pools, views, and access to Fiat 500 Cabrios; fun!

Restaurants/Bars
There really are a lot of options – it’s easy to see why people don’t leave the hotel, as it’s kind of nice to just float around for once, not rushing to find or make a reservation. Restaurant highlights include Cálido, which has a large selection of healthy options like poké, ceviche and sushi with an Ibiza flavour. The raw bar is good too, and sunset music and drinks on the upper hotel terrace is a great way to end the day. Both pools are serviced: one has an Italian menu, the other has a beach club (The Beach House) that’s just opened.

Highlights
There are a lot of activities on offer, and ones that you actually might want to do: outdoor soundbaths, HIIT fitness classes, hiking, SUP excursions, two gyms (one outdoors), as well as spa treatments and yoga. They also have fun things like outdoor films at night and other live music evenings. They’ve made a real effort to tap into the authentic Ibiza, and they’ve worked with some of the island’s best on their guides too (this content has our Maya Boyd written alllllllll over it!).
Anything Else
There is a real Aftersun (Paul Mescal) vibe about this whole area, outside of the hotel, and we mean that in the best way. Family vacations. Small stores selling beach spades and sunscreen. Plastic chairs with your feet in the sand. And at the hotel, sitting back, enjoying a film on the big screen on a moonlit night, with no pressure to race around to any plans, really did feel quite luxe. Like holidays of yesteryear.
