Party and pasta

If you’re into house music, you’ve likely seen one of your favourite DJs behind the decks here; Shellona, on Pampelonne Beach, is where you come for lunch and ‘hard party’, as our insider Charity puts it. It’s not inexpensive, but you know that.

Great pre-party dinner location

Moroccan and Mediterranean cuisine with innovative cocktails, in a jungle-like setting outside, with Moroccan-inspired furnishings inside. Early seatings are more laid-back, and later ones have more of a pre-club atmosphere, with DJs and drums.

GREY GOOSE Altius Moment: Book in for the late seating, for GREY GOOSE Altius on the rocks with an extremely energetic vibe. This is a great place to come with friends, so reserve a large table.

Next to the port, Le VIP Room is open from midnight to 5AM daily, and is a two-floor, high-glam club, filled with mirrors and ever-changing, high-octane lights. Music is anything goes, from R’n’B to rock, and well-known house and electronic DJs, too.

GREY GOOSE Altius Moment: Here, it’s all about table service with GREY GOOSE Altius for lively, refined, memorable dancing nights.

Sea view 19 century palace turned hotel

A Relais & Châteaux property, Hotel Messardière has class in droves. Set within 13 acres of pines, cypress trees and jasmine, there’s nature and elegance wherever you look. Rooms are light-filled and Provence inspired, and those that have sea-facing terraces look idyllic. The beach club, Jardin Tropenzina, on Pampelonne Bay was designed by French brand iKKim’O and has a Michelin-starred chef, Jean-François, behind its restaurant. There are several other restaurants, all equally chic, including a Matsuhisa (where Japan meets Peru by Nobu Matsuhisa); this is outdoor dining at its finest. There’s of course also a spa, pool, boutique and ‘kids club’ that looks worth the trip alone for those with children.

Charity Finnigan, Sotheby’s SVP of Global Luxury Marketing and Saint-Tropez frequenter says…

I keep coming back to Saint-Tropez because:
I love that nostalgic feeling of seeing old friends and faces – you go to Club 55 for lunch and Patrice is always there to greet you; you go to Les Caves du Roy to see Jack E DJ. Time stands still year after year and I love that. It also has a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ about it, from the local boulangerie right down to the beach clubs and hotels; everything is just charming: a fisherman’s village meets Brigitte Bardot reincarnated.

Partying here is special because:
No matter where you go, you have people of all ages on one table. I love seeing families at dinner that just get up and start dancing. And I think that aspect of it – you have places that you go to for lunch and dinner, but it becomes so much more [than just lunch or dinner]… time is never wasted, merely enjoyed. Also, there is something for everyone, from the completely tacky to utter class.

A few top tips:
For worthwhile tables, make sure you book. If you’re not familiar with the place, hotel concierges are normally great at arranging, and better to book and cancel than not to book.

Step in and out of the madness. The nature is beautiful and I adore the walks on the ocean, from Ramatuelle around Parcs de Saint-Tropez to the city. The vineyards are magical at sunset: go to Château Minuty. When in town, go to the market on Tuesdays and Saturdays in Place des Lices – the pizza truck is amazing and there are the best finds from clothing to tablecloths and place mats. If you’re in the port, go to Barbarac for ice cream.

The lowdown:
For sunset it’s the Hotel Byblos pool for drinks; for people watching in the port, it’s Sénéquier; for lunch, you have to decide if you want hard party or party lite. Have fun!

THANK YOU CHARITY!

UJ Top Tip: Yes, every big fashion house has a boutique here, but it’s the little local shops you need to be looking for. There are different markets on most days too.
