Weekend Guide
UJ Banner

We’re taking it down a notch this weekend (post Boujis and Love Brunch party madness last week) and keeping it chilled with grown-up dining Thanksgiving style, Wagyu beef in Mayfair, a little art collecting and viewing and a trip to the flicks. Factor in covetable designer goodies at St Martins Lane, the only sample sale to be seen at and snow-globe picture fun and we’re done. Hang on, what’s that about the Chromeo afterparty, Little Noise Sessions and Ministry of Sound at Somerset House? Uh oh, here we go again…

TODAY
Thanksgiving at Le Café Anglais

Impress transatlantic buddies with some opulent Thanksgiving dining at Le Café Anglais – we can’t get enough of the art deco lighting and sweeping curved banquettes. Top chef Rowley Leigh oversees a mouth-watering menu of Bibb lettuce salad, shrimp cocktail and pumpkin pie and of course the time-honoured roast turkey (although there is a halibut alternative). A bluegrass band and Tammy Wynette and Skeeter Davis numbers from singer-songwriter Becky Hollweg complete the golden age of ocean-liner travel vibe.

ART: Cloud by Pernilla & Asif
Causing quite a stir at Design Miami/Basel 2011, Asif Khan (a W Hotel Designers of the Future Award winner) and Pernilla Ohrstedt’s Cloud installation is showing in London for one day only to celebrate the launch of their Bethnal Green design practice Pernilla & Asif. Helium, soap and water create an indoor mini-cloud cover to provide “… a shaded space where conversations can happen” (as Asif describes their anti-architectural piece!). Right then, go goggle and make conversation in the cloudy shade.

Place: York Hall, 5 Old Ford Rd,

Just what we always wanted, except we never knew it, until now. And there’s even snow (of the fake variety) swishing around inside to really jazz things up. See you there.

Place: 'Battersea High Street', SW11
Cost: £5
