01.02 And we’re back! 2022

With the slew of new restaurants, bars, and hotels already coming in this year, we just can’t help feeling grateful on the daily that we have the world at our fingertips again. This week we look at the new restaurants we’re excited to try, travel destinations on our radar, and some LDN cultural picks. Happy Feb all – let’s make the most of it.

Latest Sustainable Restaurants

The most recent woke restaurant on our radar include Off the Hook, a fish restaurant / takeaway / butchery opening today in E1, the new Pizza Pilgrims in Selfridges (who are using regenerative wheat for their pizza dough, reusable kegs for drinks and vegan upholstery in their space) and Apricity (Mayfair, locally foraged, zero waste, socially conscious) opening in March.

'22 Highlights

Adding to our pre-Christmas list, here’s what we’re excited about. The Ledbury is re-opening soon (same owners, doing an 8-course menu for £180), neighbourhood Carmel from Berber & Q in Queen’s Park (for litres of orange wine and wood-fired prawns), the new chef’s table at KOL, Burmese Lahpet’s west end opening (with soft launch happening 17-20 Feb), Din Tai Fung’s Selfridges location, and the modern Chinese Tattu (date TBC). And as for multi-brand things: 100 Shoreditch (six restaurants with a bar from Ryan Chetiyawardana), Arcade Food Hall 2.0 by JKS, and Borough Yards (with a new Barrafina).

TRAVEL SPOTLIGHT

Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca

Seems like those with their nose to the travel ground headed to Puerto Escondido in Mexico this past holiday season, and the new, nearby Hotel Terrestre (opening Feb) by Groupo Habita could be one to consider should you be looking to book.

Dish of the Day

There are some seriously creative dishes around. Two that have recently stood out include Angel Zapata’s urchin with scallop roe and red prawns at Barrafina Dean Street, and Jackson Boxer’s pork and prawn stuffed chicken wing at Brunswick House.
