One minute from Green Park tube, and you arrive at Fenix; a little piece of the Med, right on Piccadilly.
The Décor/Vibe
With straw lamps, warm lighting, nude linen suits on staff, and tribal house music, you could be at Scorpios by day; you’re just missing the sand. In an area that is typically filled with tourists, there seemed to be mostly Londoners here on the night we visited, and of varying ages – early 20s seemed to be at the front, and an older, more Mayfair crowd further back in the dining room. The common theme seemed to be: people who wanted a bit of a vibe with their linguine.
The Menu
This is a great menu. The spreads, as you’d expect, are excellent: fresh tzatziki and smoked taramasalata; same with the salads. Some of the mezze could use a little work (the halloumi tempura had a lot going on), but the open fire-grilled seafood and meats more than made up for it. The selection is large though, so take your time and think about what flavours you’re after.
Highlights
The atmosphere. You can go from a rainy Tuesday grump to upbeat Mediterranean ease very quickly here. Just add Greek wine, which they have a great selection of.
