When we heard Nobu had opened next to Sants train station, we thought wow, bold move – we like it. The area is gritty, busy and could definitely benefit from a hotel like this. This isn’t the first time that an elevated venue has contrasted its neighbourhood in Barcelona. Case in point: Ferran Adrià (of elBulli fame) moved a whole selection of restaurants (called elBarri) into the Paralelo area before it was really where people hung out. We digress. Nobu Hotel Barcelona is a stunning building with 259 rooms, a spa, gym, and incredible rooftop terrace with 360 degree views of Barcelona, and a Nobu dining room on the 23rd floor. The location feels exactly right – and we applaud them for choosing it.

The Décor/Vibe
Designed by the NY-based Rockwell Group, we weren’t surprised when we heard they also did Nobu Downtown New York – it has that glossy, city vibe. They’ve also taken inspiration from local design, and the overall feel is art forward, with their signature sleek black, offset here by some bold red pieces and, as always, great lighting. The entrance is stunning, as you can see above. Modern, industrial, with Japanese influences and stylish uplighting: perfect.
The Menu
They of course have all the Nobu classics, but they also have local specialities created by Chef Nobu Matsuhisa himself, as well as a Barcelona omakase menu and drinks that utilise local ingredients. Try something new!
Highlights
The views. The rooftop is incredible. And the dining room, with floor to ceiling windows, truly comes alive at night, but any time of day is beautiful and shows just how sprawling Barcelona is. You can see the Sagrada Familia (now completed!), Tibidabo, Torre Mapfre – all the icons on the BCN skyline.
