Top 5: New Year Getaways

Stuck for plans? We've got you covered

  • Singapore Airlines Suite

If you’re a frequent flyer who quite likes the sound of celebrating New Year’s Eve in the air, make sure you travel in style. Book into one of Singapore Airlines’ Suites and you’ll get your own individual cabin, complete with a separate dining area and bed (not one converted from a seat) which can even be made into a double if you book adjoining cabins. And the food? Forget your standard airline fare: this is fine dining curated by globally renowned chefs, served on bone china. The suite is available on the Airbus A380–800 aircraft, which flies to Paris, Sydney, London and more – although the destination seems less important when the journey is this good.

  • DC-10, Ibiza

PM-802, Sant Josep de sa Talaia, Ibiza Spain

If it’s a party you want, there’s really only one place to go, and that’s the White Isle. Circoloco is back at DC-10 for New Year’s Day 2018, and although the line-up hasn’t been released yet, we’re sure it’s going to be a good one (it always is). Have a chilled one on New Year’s Eve, and then head out early in the afternoon for this 13-hour-long dance party. Get booking before it sells out!

  • Napa Valley, California

If it’s a rural getaway you want, opt for the Napa Valley and uncork a bottle of some of the world’s finest wine to celebrate the New Year. We recommend booking in to the luxe Calistoga Ranch (although be quick, there are only a few rooms left for New Year) for a spa stay, and a hike if you’re feeling energetic. For New Year’s Eve, take a trip on the Napa Wine Train  for a four-course dinner and stunning views of the valley.

  • Chandolin, Switzerland

After a more active New Year? UJ says hit the slopes in Switzerland’s Chandolin, complete with a stay at the Chandolin Boutique Hotel. Combining the rustic charm of a Swiss grand chalet with the luxury of a five-star-hotel, the Chandolin Boutique Hotel has all the après-ski facilities you could wish for, including a restaurant with panoramic mountain views, a cocktail lounge bar, a spa and a salon for treatments. Plus, there’s a bus to the slopes nearby every 20 minutes so you’re never far from the snow.

  • Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

If it’s New Year in the sun you want, we suggest heading to Rio and bedding down in the new Chez Georges Villa in Santa Teresa, sandwiched between the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema. It’s a private villa with seven bedrooms, so UJ says bring along a few friends and make the most of the world-class sound system in the private music studio.
