Behind The Scenes
Following a slew of designer documentaries, has fashion lost its mystery?

The modern world is full of profound mysteries, and none more so than in fashion. Does Kate Moss speak? Will Lagerfeld ever leave Chanel? And who will be America's Next Top Model?

There's something lovable about a good enigma. Sure the annals tell us Coco Chanel dabbled in a few not-so-salubrious affairs with Nazi sympathizers, and yes, we've heard Vogue editor Anna Wintour may be a cloven-hoofed demon. But the gory details were left to our willing imaginations. Until now.

As we wait for Audrey 'Amelie' Tautou to play Coco in her forthcoming flick, and Anna's much hyped documentary 'The September Issue' to air, I fear the game may be up. We've already seen Kate Moss b*llocking Sir Phil for a wardrobe mishap on last Sunday's 'Topshop NYC in 24 hours'. A career's worth of mystery screwed in five minutes.

When the legendary Marlene Dietrich finally lowered her defenses for Max Schill's seminal documentary, not only did she refuse to appear on camera but she plain lied throughout the interview. A mystery to the very end. And we love it.

I've lost Santa. MJ's bound to get ripped into soon. And now Coco. Please, don't take Anna from us too.

Marlene is reissued this week on DVD, £15.99 (or £10.99 at the moment at HMV)
Coco Avant Chanel is due for release July 31st.
The September Issue is due out, oddly enough, in September.

Show Window Photos: July
July's shop windows are all about escapism.

Selfridges have gone sci-fi with Perspex Giles-inspired Pacman headpieces, whilst Harvey Nicks keeps it ethereal - entrancing by-passers with mystical nymphs in a fairy-tale forest. Liberty is reminiscent of some exotic Queen's boudoir from a by-gone era, lounging amidst her luxurious jewel coloured fabrics. Talk
about making real life seem mundane...
