First on the scene means there’s always some tough initial impressions to make, and thankfully, Casa do Frango is up to the task. London’s only Algarvian restaurant cooks up proper piri-piri chicken over wood charcoal, alongside octopus rice, pastel de nata, and other Portuguese staples. To drink? Natural Portuguese wines have space to shine here – but don’t just take your waiter’s word for it – go and find the secret bar that’s on site too, for a final glass before you leave. And do visit in daylight – the vaulted ceilings, bare brickwork and views of Southwark’s railway archways out of Casa do Frango’s massive windows feel almost film-set-worthy.
