They say the best things come in small packages, and 16 seats is certainly minute. That’s the number New Zealand chef Jeff Tyler has chosen for Titu, his latest outpost in Mayfair, which focuses primarily on handmade gyoza. Resisting easy categorisation, Titu’s gyozas range from Wagyu beef and black pepper to spicy prawn and asparagus, as well as a range that changes seasonally. Asian-inspired snacks include crispy chicken wings, fried prawns as well as fresh salads (count us in for soft shell crab salad!). Breakfast is all about green tea pancakes and oeuf à la coque with asparagus soldiers. Having cut his teeth at Roka, The Mandarin Oriental in Marrakech and Barcelona, and as the opening head chef at Novikov, Titu will be a chance for Jeff to scale his focus right down to 16 guests – definitely one to watch.
