HEALTH-VOLUTION…IT CONTINUES

From morning raves to juice bars and matcha everything, London’s newfound healthy lifestyle is going strong. Now, non-alcoholic bars are cropping up, we’re drinking charcoal lemonade at festivals and bone tea broth is soon to replace the morning coffee.

Non-alcoholic booze and mocktails, once just a token part of dry January and Oct-sober, have now crept into the mainstream. Case in point: Redemption, London’s first alcohol free pop up bar, is set to open its first permanent bricks ‘n’ mortar site in Notting Hill. Aside from their extensive range of mocktails, there’s also a menu excluding sugar, wheat, meat and dairy. Vegans rejoice!

Keeping on the clean ‘n’ healthy lifestyle, forget boozy summer picnics accompanied by the usual suspects of cheese and foie gras. Now, healthy picnic hampers seem to be all the range – leading the trend is Bel Air, with fruit salads and vegetarian frittatas washed down with blueberry, kale and beetroot smoothies. Over on the festival circuit, the drink of choice is Latitude: Botanic Lab’s juices, which are healing juices to help combat the hangover. From cold press activated charcoal blends to ginseng immunity boosters, the detox is now just as important as the retox.

Now to contend with is Bone Tea Broth. London’s first dedicated broth bar has just opened, with an aim to explore the reception of broths as a possible grab ‘n’ go offering in the capital – with Bone Tea shops likely to appear in 2016. Say good-bye to your green teas and matcha lattes– there’s a new drink in town.
