JKS – the people that brought you Michelin-starred Indian restaurants Gymkhana and Trishna – now have another lesson in how to do South Asian cuisine, this time focusing on Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu. The heart of the menu is based on regional savoury pancake classics: hoppers and dosas. Snacks come in the form of ‘rice and roast’ dishes: rotis, biryani and Tamil spit chicken. Small, stylish, and a part of the Soho no reservations movement, it feels a world away from the more moneyed charm of the group’s other Indian eateries.
