More info

Looking for a holiday that is active, but more luxe-customised than bootcamp rigid? Then Il Sereno could be for you.

The Hotel
Set on the eastern side of Lake Como, this Patricia Urquiola-designed hotel is one chic affair. With 30 suites, all with lake views, you can’t lose no matter what room you book. The sound of waves crashing definitely helps with a deep sleep, too.

The Food
Berton al Lago is their Michelin-starred restaurant, and you can keep it light with the veg tasting menu, or order à la carte. Morning fresh juices start things off right, and you can keep things simple with haute granola and local yogurt. They can also organise a healthy picnic for you, should you want something to take away.

Hiking
Want to get up in the hills? (You are surrounded by them, after all.) Then get the concierge to organise a hike for you. Choose a length and difficulty level and their local guide will take you out – they can help you see what is right, after you’ve walked a little bit, too. Hikes start from two hours and are bespoke, so you’ll go at your own pace. The guide they use knows her Como trivia as well, so this is exercise and a local history class in one.

Watersports
Kayaking and SUP boards are available. Take one and go! They can also arrange waterskiing, should you want to whip around.

The SPA at Il Sereno by Valmont
Here, in an old boating shed is their chic spa. Use the steam, sauna and Jacuzzi, or book in for a treatment. Again, with design from Patricia Urquiola, do take note of the stylish chairs and touches around.
