Mountains, Michelins, and cider

After being inspired by Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown, S12, episode 2, on Asturias, we recently took a little trip around. The cider was cold, the prices (in the smaller towns) were reasonable, and the people were incredibly friendly.

Top 5 learnings included:

Do a little planning, so you can divide your time between places by the sea and inland.

Take a look at the different walks and hikes around, if you want to truly immerse yourself in the mountains. The Picos de Europa are incredible.

Want to try a local Michelin? There are lots here, take a look.

The local airport in Oviedo is small and easy to get through – less is more regarding time spent here.

For two nice hotels in the region, try Solo Palacio, and Narbasu – which is the local hotel they recommend if interested in dining at the three Michelin star Casa Marcial.
