Hapa Izakaya

Tap into the Tapanese trend.

Modelled after Japanese Izakaya bars, where smaller, affordable snacks and sakes are dished out to a post-work crowd, Vancouver's version (which now boasts three locations) is a slicker affair resting on the same principles. 'Tapanese', or Japanese tapas, are the dish of the day, with mackerel scorched at your table, heavy hot stone bowls sure to warm up the coldest of hearts, and sake served out of frozen bamboo stalks. The atmosphere is always buzzing and there's plenty of people watching to be had as all walks of life pop in to take a cross-legged seat at low tables under the glow of backlit golden wall hangings.

Top Tip / UJ Loves: It's hard to find so look out closely for black lettering on a grey and black frontage, and definitely book ahead.
