The New Coast

Turning the tide on seafood sameyness.

If there's one thing Vancouver's got plenty of, it's seafood shacks, shanties and swanky outfits, all making the most of their coastal living. So what's different about The New Coast? First, it's from the people behind Glowbal, one of the hottest dining choices in the city, and secondly it's set out to reinvigorate the restaurant scene, setting up shop in the area swiftly being renamed as Vancouver's own Rodeo Drive (though we remain skeptical). The space is huge, with a mezzanine level overlooking geometric carpeting, crisp white linens and a chic bar with a towering lit centerpiece. The food bills itself as a playful twist on classic fishy fare, serving up Liverpool Fish & Chips in newspaper wrapping, and the signature Chilled Platter piled high with crab, shrimp, lobster, mussels and prawns.

Top Tip / UJ Loves: Save room for dessert and go for the Tahitian Vanilla Cheesecake Lollipops.
